I am THE Fil-Am Kicking Scribe. Well, I am one of many Fil-Am Kicking Scribes. Haha. Fil-Am means 'Filipino-American.' Kicking refers to my martial arts life and scribe, obviously, because I'm a writer. Catchy, huh? Or, corny? Baduy, as we'd say in The Philippines. Nonetheless, welcome to my website and thanks for stopping by.

At filamkickingscribe.com, you'll learn about me, primarily as a writer but I often blog about what I'm doing as a martial artist or responding to something that happened in and/or around my day job as a public school teacher. As a public school teacher, I'm able to share my love for books and words by running a free after school Creative Writing program and by reading to some of our students as part of our Read Across America events. In 2012, I read from Marie Lu's Legend. This year, I read from the follow-up novel, Prodigy. Next year, I hope to read from my current work-in-progress, Sage Of Heaven.

Also at this website, you can check out my debut novel, Back Kicks And Broken Promises, and some of my works-in-progres (WIPs). I'm currently working on my second novel (Sage Of Heaven) and I'm adapting two screenplays I wrote in the 90s into novels.  I'll also share insights about my martial arts life, my evolution as a parent, teaching and general observations on life in my blog Contemplations. I hope you like what you see here and I hope you visit again. There'll be updates on any events I attend - whether I'm hosting them or just going to them - and there'll be the occasional contest, too.

I'd also love to hear from you. Just drop me a "hello, how are you?" or let me know what you think of my book or this website. You can email me at  bas@filamkickingscribe.com or you  can also follow me on Twitter by clicking on the Twitter button above or search for me while you're in the Twitterverse. My handle - is that the right term? -  is @JuanRaderBas. I'm also a member of  The Independent Author Network and Your Book Authors online writers' communities and I have an author page at Goodreads. There's an official Facebook fan page  for my novel. Hit the Facebook button above to go there.

Anyway, thanks again for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit. If you do, spread the word and share this site and my work with your friends and family.

Maraming salamat. Ingat!
